It depicts the escapade of a prisoner Jean Valjean who has just been freed by the prison in charge Javert. The musical exhibits the social injustice which was written by Victor Hugo to familiarize the community with social inequality. It revolves around Jean Valjean who takes no less than a moment to break his parole and get his hands on some shiny silver, which contributes later to Jeans rise to the seat of the mayor and a renowned factory owner.
Eight years later, the story unfolds as Jean becomes the guardian of a child named Cosette whose mother meets an untimely end. But Jeans troubles had only begun as the prison in charge Javert takes it upon him to bring Jean back in the chains of law. This miserable affair brings an unanticipated twist in Jeans stressful yet luxurious life.
